Day 1 – Channel Islands & France

Crews gather for the start of the cruise

Welcome everyone

It’s been a warm and changeable day in Portsmouth. Today fleet boats and their crews have assembled at Royal Clarence Marina, Gosport, for the start of the first cruise of the MBM Cruising Club 2011 season.

Motor Boats Monthly’s control boat, the Jeanneau Prestige 38S Blue Fin, is amidst 24 boats now at Royal Clarence and we would like to welcome the many new faces (and a few old faces among us too).

The weather is misbehaving and at the inaugural briefing cruise leader Neale Byart addressed the 24-boat fleet, conveying his thoughts on the weather and plans for the weekend ahead. The first planned move is to Cherbourg, but with high winds forecast the fleet will not be moving anywhere tomorrow. Welcome drinks followed the briefing giving everyone the chance to mingle, some even went off into town for a bite to eat with new-found friends.
