Day 10 Channel Islands & West Country

The MBM team see a possible break in the weather but it turns out to be a no go

False start

Victoria Marina, St Peter Port, Guernsey Position 49°27.31 N 002°32.6 W

After a routine weather check the forecasts looked reasonable for a passage to Dartmouth. Time Flies left with the two slower boats at 0830 only to find that the conditions deteriorated once clear of Guernsey, so the decision was made to return to St Peter Port.

Although the fleet were disappointed not to be heading to the West Country, they soon got into party mode and an impromptu get-together soon formed around Rosie, Job Done and Silver Fox in the sunshine.

The fleet kept Neale and Richard busy for most of the day with various troubleshooting jobs, including a bowthruster fault, a hydraulic fuel leak, some VHF radios problems and an over-zealous microwave oven.

A briefing was held on the pontoon at 1800 detailing a possible move to Dartmouth tomorrow. We will be looking at the weather again in the morning and if the conditions look favourable the first boats are due out at 0900.
