New charter destination opened in the Caribbean

Charter company The Moorings has opened a £10 million Moorings Village in Tortola on the British Virgin Islands.

The Moorings claim that the new destination is the most modern and environmentally friendly in the Caribbean with facilities including new shops, a bar and restaurant with spectacular views over the harbour, health spa and a business centre with free Wi-Fi. All of this in a location offering crystal clear water, white sand and glorious sunshine.

The Moorings also run an impressive environmental policy with a desalination plant which churns out 60,000 gallons of water daily as well a laundry operation which recycles treated water and saves a further 12,000 gallons a day.

Their operation also seems to be having a positive effect for the locals, water quality in Road Town harbour has experienced a massive increase thanks to the new flow-through breakwater in the marina that can circulate up to 50 million gallons of water a week.

Let’s not forget about the boats either as The Moorings run a huge flotilla of sailing catamarans but have recently acquired a Powercat 747 which they claim is the market leader in fuel efficiency.

TUI Travel owners of The Moorings say: “We are committed to offering the best holiday experiences in the world, and we have invested in The Moorings, both at this base and in the yacht fleet itself, in order to ensure we continue to deliver the highest standards of sailing holidays. Standards which The Moorings has built its 40 year reputation on.

“We are extremely proud to be part of the unveiling celebration of the Moorings Village in Tortola and we believe that this new facility has given us the very best yachting facility in the Caribbean from which to operate.”
