2008 RIBEX details

World firsts and hog roasts

The ninth RIBEX, to be held on the Isle of Wight in May, has several world launches to its name this year.

The event, sponsored by Suzuki Marine, bills itself as the world’s only show for RIBs and inflatables, with craft exhibited afloat and ashore.

The new Scorpion 10m is sure to be one of the main attractions, but the show also boasts the world launch of Redbay’s first 11m flybridge RIB.

The new 10m Stingher from Italy makes its public debut at the show too. The boat has an interior modified for the UK market.

Another RIBEX first will be the new Ilmore-engined Arctic Blue 29 (pictured, with different engine). MBY enjoyed a white-knuckle ride on this craft in very heavy conditions in the Baltic last year and were more than impressed with its performance.

All these boats will be on the water and ready for sea trial.

The show also aims to cater for the entry level boater, with many more affordable packages ready to go.

RIBEX say: “With hog and lamb roasts, a new hospitality marquee, exhibitor prizes and giveaways galore, not to mention the ability to properly sea trial dozens of RIBs back to back, the show looks set to be a great weekend for everyone who loves RIBs.”

The show runs from 9-11 of May and takes place at Cowes Yacht Haven immediately adjacent to the Red Funnel foot passenger ferry.

Visitors can travel to RIBEX by ferry or by their own RIB.
