The new-look Tullett Prebon London International Boat Show closed yesterday, with organisers celebrating a 7% jump in attendance over 2010 to 109,778.
When visitors to The Outdoors Show, which ran in tandem with the last four days of the boat show, are added, that figure rises to 140,164.
Andrew Williams, MD of National Boat Shows, said: "We have worked extremely hard to create a 10-day event that our exhibitors would be proud of and the response we have had from exhibitors and visitors is that the ‘wow' factor is certainly back.
"The stunning new east entrance giving a glimpse of the pool and some of the exciting action has given visitors a hint of what is to come before they have even walked through the ticket barriers."
Make sure you grab the March issue of MBY (out February 3) to see our round-up of all the best boats and gear at the show.
In the meantime, MBY Editor, Hugo, has picked out his five hottest launches at the show whilst our team were at ExCeL for the duration updating our twitter page.

I agree! This was a dismal show missing many, many key firms. Southampton from now on and goodbye Excel. A real wast of money for exhibitors and visitors.

What is disgraceful is the fact that MBY repeats all the PR puff coming out of the boat show without questioning it. And I'm sure we'll see in the next issue that it was the greatest boat show, blah blah, ever, with hundreds of boats, blah blah, sold. Which we the people who actually went there and worked there know to be utter bunkum. It was disaster and many of us won't be wasting out money going there again.

This is nonsense. I went on the first Sunday and the place was almost empty by 5 pm. I wanted to buy some vinyl for my boat upholstery and there was only one stand in the whole place selling marine upholstery fabric. In the old days at Earls Court you'd have had several stands selling it. A friend was showing a boat and he said the whole thing was a total disaster. |Hugely expensive stands and no buyers except a handful signing pre order on the Sunseeker stand. East London is a nightmare venue. The sort of people who buy boats want the show back in Earls Court!

This was, without doubt, the poorest London Boat Show I have ever visited! Where were all the exhibitors that one expects to find at the 'premier' show?
