The big news came from the Jeanneau stand with its new NC14 and the intriguing Voyage 42.
The NC14 very much follows on from the NC9 and NC11 in terms of styling but with a new Tony Castro vertical-bow hull and IPS400 engines it promises to be a strong sea boat.
The seamless link between the cockpit and saloon make single-level living a doddle and down below there are two good cabins and two heads.
The Voyage 42 also has a Tony Castro hull, this time mated to twin 380hp Cummins diesels and shafts. The 42 is likely to be the starting point of a range that will include both larger and smaller models.
The deep, walkaround sidedecks and spacious flybridge separate it from its more regular rivals but it's the view from the saloon that is really spectacular thanks to the wraparound windscreen and its tiny mullions.
The masters of traditional design Rhea also had an entry-level trawler on show, which really caught our eye with its practical charms.
Away from the French yards Bavaria chose this show to launch its coupe version of the 420 Virtess. The design lends itself to being a coupe with the huge glass sunroof and small sun deck adding a flourish.
