Venture 14: Arrival in Arcachon

The Venture 14 fleet arrives in Arcachon after a smooth cruise

The Venture 14 arrived in Arcachon yesterday after a smooth cruise through the Bay of Biscay.

The Bay was kind to them for this part of the journey, some respite after a hard leg to Lorient and the potential that the weather is turning for the worst towards the end of the week.

Grey Ghost was the first boat to make it to the French port and helmsman Paul Glenister sent the folowing message:

Monday 9 June, 20:32: “Having a ball over here. Bloody hard work but one hell of an experience and there is a lot of interest everywhere we go.

“We’re so glad we went for the challenge despite the issues with the Venture Cup.”

The teams are currently charging along the northern Spanish coast; as I type they are just off Bilbao. The course says that the next stop is A Coruña but with such good progress being made yestersay, they may choose to push on further.
