A positive start to the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show

A spectacular gathering headed to the main stage for today's official opening of the show

The Tullet Prebon London Boat Show, which opened today at ExCel, brings a ray of sunshine to the current gloomy economic and meteorological climate. Crowds of visitors gathered for the press and preview day to enjoy what promises to be one of the best shows yet.

A spectacular gathering headed to the main stage, to watch model, actress and heiress Tamara Ecclestone officially open the show. The buzz was exactly what the organisers of the show had hoped for, with press and visitors pushing their way to the main stage to capture a glance of the famous faces.

Among the crowds, we caught up with some of the visitors to find out their view on the show. MBM readers, Mark Baughen from Gillingham, his father Lionel and his uncle Fred were among those keen to praise the show. Mark commented, “We have a Doral 28 and we love coming to the show because it is so inspiring. We bought dad’s boat here in 2006 and it was so exciting. The boat show is a good day out and highly recommended because everyone in this profession is polite. If you are looking for bargains for your boat, the best day to come is the last day because there is definitely scope for bargaining.” Fred and Lionel, added, “We like the fact we can take a look at the new equipment on the market, compare, and get an idea of what we should be upgrading to.”

With over 1000 boats on display and over 500 exhibitors, a very strong used boat marina outside, and the return of the activity pool, the show has something for everyone. Tickets are available on line from londonboatshow.com or from the ticket hotline on 0871 230 7140.

The MBM team will be at the Show for the duration, so don’t forget to pay a visit to the stand – F106.
