A taste for speed

Acclaimed chef Michael Caines will join P1 SuperSport class team at Cowes.

Michael Caines, one of Britain’s most acclaimed chefs, will be joining Southampton-based Powerboat P1 SuperSport class team VoomVoom.com. His aim is to whet an appetite for speed and savour the delights on offer at the British Grand Prix of the Sea at Cowes this coming weekend.

Michael, who admits to having a discerning taste for power, will have the opportunity to ride in the team’s 2007 Hustler 388 experiencing the ultimate aquatic dish! Michael is taking time out from his busy schedule as Executive Chef at Gidleigh Park, the renowned 2-star Michelin country house hotel on the edge of Dartmoor, to attend this prestigious event. He will be cheering on VoomVoom.com in the historic ‘Round the Island’ race on Friday: the first leg of the Grand Prix.

Alongside cooking Michael will use his time with P1 and the team to satisfy his other two passions in life, the sea and high speed motorsport.

VoomVoom.com, under the watchful eye of team principal and throttleman Vee Ganjavian, has been preparing its Hustler 388 slingshot to secure a podium finish on home territory. Vee’s determination to achieve success at Cowes has involved the fitting of two new 440hp diesels and a major test programme with hundreds of miles covered on The Solent in recent weeks.

For the first time, VoomVoom.com will also become an exhibitor at the Cowes within the Powerboat P1 ‘Entertainment Zone’, where a brand new Hustler 26 diesel powered sportsboat and Aquarius Thundercat will be star attractions.
