Atlantic crossing binned

An ambitious plan to pilot a 27ft motor catamaran across the Atlantic has been shelved due to ill health

Boat designer Grahame Shannon’s bid to cross the Atlantic in a Motorcat 27 has been scuppered by ill health.

The original idea was to take the boat from Gibraltar to Newfoundland, via the Azores.

Grahame, whose company designed the 27-footer, is now planning a trip from Italy to Belgium via the French canal network.

The motor catamaran will then be loaded onto a container ship for the ride to Canada.
