As we look back over the past week in photos, we take you to Japan, New Zealand, Russia, the US and India.

Japan shows the press its latest protection from future tsunamis with the remote-controlled breakwater.

A Russian WW11 tank is lifted from the seabed after 60 years, while in Seattle a lock is drained for cleaning, showing the vast underwater structure.

In New Zealand, the cargo ship Rena that ran aground and leaked 350 tonnes of oil is freed of containers, and Indian naval ships practise moving journalists around at sea.
