Break a world record at Southampton show

World's biggest speed dating event planned

Two bizarre world record attempts will be made at the PSP Southampton Boat Show this year.

The show runs from 11-20 September.

Event organisers National Boat Shows (NBS) are hoping to organise the world’s largest number of people to send a semaphore message, as well as attempting to break the world record for the most amount of people to take part in a speed dating event.

Andrew Williams, Managing Director of NBS, comments: “The record breaking theme of the show ensures that visitors not only enjoy a fantastic day out, they have the chance to make history too.

“We are fully committed to smashing the records and securing a place for our visitors and the Show in the Guinness World Record books!”

The Record Breaker Stage situated in Solent Park will host the show’s attempt to break the world record for the largest number of people to send a semaphore message.

Sunday 13 September will see exhibitors, visitors and singletons from Southampton and beyond join together to attempt to break the world record for the most number of people in a speed dating event.

With the current record standing at 120 people, organisers need a minimum of 130 people to not only potentially meet their perfect match, but become a world record holder in the process.

To register for the world record breaking event, email your name and age to boatshow@publicasity.co.uk by Friday 11 September 2009.
