Bristol Harbourside Marina refurbished

Upgrade for Bristol site

New pontoons have opened at Bristol Harbourside Marina.

Hamble River-based company Solent Marine won the contract to refurbish the pontoons with Bristol City Council, following the launch of SIMBRO, the first through bolted, completely modular pontoon system introduced earlier this year.

The site now boasts 600m of new pontoons and a 4m wide public boardwalk, with access for the disabled.

“This was a technically challenging project that has provided a mix of public walkways and private berthing areas,” comments Marc Simmonds, Commercial Director, Solent Marine. “The requirement for disability access and easy and safe movement for wheelchairs, meant stability and low rise and fall was essential. The walkways at Bristol are therefore double the width we would normally allow in a private marina environment. We are delighted with the overall result which has enhanced the water front and provided a
new and exciting area for both citizens and visitors to Bristol’s historic waterfront.”
