Britain’s Chris Davis gains accolade

Winner of UIM photography award in powerboat 'Atmosphere' category

Once again the response to the annual UIM Photographic Competition was impressive with 26 photographers from thirteen different nations submitting some 251 pictures in six different powerboating categories.

The jury had a difficult task in choosing the overall winners thanks to the impressive quality and diversity of work.

The six different categories – Aquabike, Atmosphere, Circuit, Endurance, Offshore and Retouched – were judged on the criteria of creativity, technical quality, composition, subject matter and overall impact with the total points scored deciding the winners.

Once again, Paul Lakatos of Austria took the top prize in Circuit, while Britain’s Chris Davies took first in Atmosphere for his photo of the start of the fifth leg of last year’s Roundn Britain race at Inverness. Both winning entrants tied for the Image of the Year accolade with an impressive score of 56 out of 60.

Elsewhere, Simon Palfrader of Italy took gold in Offshore, Hungary’s Peter Sandor was first in Aquabike, Britain’s Drew Gibson was the winner in Endurance and Raffaello Bastiani of Italy emerged the winner in Retouched.
