British Leisure Show kicks off in Windsor

James Brooke's latest show venture got off to a damp start today, but if the weather behaves itself it would make for a nice day out

The latest show from the organisers behind the now defunct Earls Court Boat Show is a mixed bag, which caters for every conceivable outdoor pursuit, but there is enough to keep boaters amused.

The inaugural British Leisure Show, which runs from today until Sunday at Royal Windsor Racecourse, has a respectable-sized boat section, with Fairline, Cranchi, Hunton, Chris-Craft, Barrus and Val Wyatt among those exhibiting.

But boating is just one part of this sprawling outdoor show, and if you’ve ever fancied trying your hand at archery, quad biking, diving or kite-flying, then now’s your chance.

Visitor numbers were modest, possibly due to the miserable weather, but then if you hold an outdoor show in England in March, what do you expect?
