Incredible models of famous vessels up for grabs in online auction

A model of craft is one of a series up for auction in one of the industry’s biggest sales in recent years.

Vectis Auctions, one of the worldÕs largest toy auctioneers, are offering a single-owner collection of scratchbuilt British, German and Japanese battleships, passenger liners, galleons, barges, tugboats and freighters, made to between 1/8th and 1/240th scale.

There are 35 models in all and they include the Golden Hind, Blue Bird of Chelsea, Royal Princess, Canberra, Queen Mary, LuLu Belle Steam Boat, KM Scharnhorst, HMS Hood, HMS Manchester, HMS Invictor, HMS Invincible and HMS Ark Royal.

A spokesman said: “This is one of the highest quality model ship collections we have had for sale.”

All models are made to a very high standard and cover the period from 16th through to the 20th century, built by various model makers within the last forty years.

Two of the larger passenger liners are Canberra, measuring approximately 6Õ4″ (190cm) long x 2Õ (60cm) wide, and Royal Princess, approximately 7Õ2″ (224cm) long by 2Õ6″ (76cm), both built to approximately 1/150th scale, are fitted with electric lighting.

The auction will take place at Stockton on Tees on Saturday 22 April and will also be held online simultaneously through liveauctioneers.com and ebayliveauctions.com
