Carpitella to partner Bohinc in Turkey

Birth of first child likely to prevent team owner racing

Giovanni Carpitella, the current Class 3, 6-litre world speed record holder is set to join Austrian Hannes Bohinc in SNAV OSG for the third and fourth rounds of the P1 World Championship in Istanbul next month. With team principal and throttleman, Giancarlo Cangiano, expected to stay behind in Naples for the birth of his first child, Carpitella will race alongside Bohinc as the team looks to build on its Grand Prix win in Malta.

“We have not competed together before but Carpitella is a top powerboater and I am looking forward to racing with him,” confirms Bohinc, the 2005 P1 World Champion.

“We tested together in Malta and it was a good experience. Giovanni races up to 40 times a year in boats of all sizes. Nothing phases him and he reads the sea well.”

After two rounds the Italian OSG Racing team currently leads the Evolution Class P1 World Championship by ten points from US team, Lucas Oil Outerlimits. The Turkish Grand Prix of the Sea takes place on June 20-21.
