Carver 44 Sojourn

Dramatic lines from this US yard

What they say
“The hull and deck lines of the new Carver 44 Sojourn are strikingly different from other boats in this class. The 44 was created with a design directive that established the exterior and interior accommodation areas and the efficient utilisation of space as high priorities. You will immediately appreciate this when stepping on board.”

What we say
US manufacturer Carver are launching a new range in the Sojourn and have certainly made a statement with the inaugural model, though that bold exterior with its dominating radar arch may not appeal to everyone.

Nevertheless, the boat has a number of features that are sure to make life pleasant for those on board. For starters, the high acreage of windows in the saloon will let light flood in. That airy feel will be boosted by the fact that the whole interior is designed over mostly one level with few steps. If it weren’t for the sea views you could be forgiven for thinking you were in a luxury flat.

Among other notable features is a ‘jump seat’ facing aft on the transom. The flybridge offers seating for 12 people. With a fridge and boat grill up there too this area has serious party potential. There are two cabins, each with a WC, plus a saloon table that seats six and converts to form another double berth.

We have come to expect nothing less than solid build and quality craftsmanship from this US yard, so we’ll be keen to see the 44 Sojourn first hand. There is a 34 planned for next spring.
