Royal Clarence Marina will have more berths to offer boatowners in 2016, after a recent expansion by owners Castle Marinas was completed

More berths will be available for boatowners looking to moor in the Solent next year, after Castle Marinas completed an expansion of its Royal Clarence facility.

The Portsmouth Harbour marina will feature an improved layout in 2016, with nine new finger pontoons added, replacing some of the alongside berths.

As a result, Royal Clarence Marina will be able to offer 18 additional moorings next year, giving boatowners more sheltered berthing options on the Gosport side of Portsmouth Harbour.

The new berths (pictured above) measure up to 32ft (10m) and were installed by Southampton-based contractors Walcon Marine last month.

Boatowners interested in reserving one of the new berths for the 2016 season are encouraged to contact marina manager Rob Jezard as soon as possible.

Royal Clarence Marina now has a total of 150 fully serviced berths, which can accommodate deep-keeled vessels and yachts measuring up to 59ft (18m).

The Castle Marinas chain also includes Birdham Pool in Chichester Harbour and five inland marinas in Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Nottinghamshire and Cambridgeshire.
