Costa joins marina network

Three of Alicante's Marina Complexes have met government requirements to be included in the Spanish National Marina Network

Three of Alicante’s Marina Complexes have met government requirements to be included in the Spanish National Marina Network.

Over 100 hotel owners and businessmen along with council officials from Denia, Altea and Alicante gathered in Madrid this past week to present a package of activities and services that complement the tourism industry based around the marinas in their areas. The presentation was part of their inclusion in the National Marina Network promoted by the Public Works Ministry.

Delegates said that their presentation in Madrid demonstrated the high quality of the marina facilities in Alicante Province and it was now time that they should be included in the national network. They elaborated by saying that in a market research study carried out earlier in the year, it was calculated that every tourist that visited the marina complexes spent 8,000 pesetas on average daily.

Despite celebrations for marina accomplishments, Denia’s tourism councillor Marco Miquel strongly criticised local businessmen for their lack of investment and interest in the marina complex project.
