Cowes to Monte Carlo organisers set entry fee

Cost apparently no deterrent as confirmed line-up hits 40

Organisers of the Cowes to Monte Carlo Powerboat Grand Prix, due to start in Cowes on June 8, 2013 have now set the entry fee based on the formula used for the 2008 Round-Britain event.

Entrants will be charged at £12 per horsepower with a maximum of £15,000 for craft with the highest power output.

The figure is considered reasonable when compared with the overall fee for the Round-Britain marathon, bearing in mind the event, at 2,400 miles, is over twice the distance.

Forty teams representing 14 nations have already paid a £500 non-refundable deposit and while numbers have currently slowed, the final line-up is still expected to be near the original fleet maximum of 50 boats.
