‘Devil’s vegetable’ banned from navy warship

Brussels sprouts have been banned from being brought aboard a Royal Navy warship.

Brussels sprouts have been banned from being brought aboard a Royal Navy warship. Captain Wayne Keble, the commanding officer of the assault ship HMS Bulwark, gives no other reason than that he dislikes them.

Sprouts are “the Devil’s vegetable and the only thing I do not like, and the only thing I hate”, he said. Bulwark, which carries a crew of 325 plus a contingent of Royal Marines, is currently in the Indian Ocean as part of a Royal Navy Task Group.

“Captain Keble runs the ship and he has categorically said that sprouts are banned,” said one crewmember.
