Visitors to the Thames can take advantage of a discounted licence over the Christmas period

The Environment Agency (EA) is offering a special two-day, low-cost licence for the Thames over the Christmas period.

From tomorrow till 30 December, all boaters passing through Teddington Lock can buy a two-day licence for only £10 for the stretch of river up to Molesey Lock.

The EA says the special offer “will mean boaters can get a taste of the river further upstream of London, and, with Christmas just round the corner, can enjoy a spot of festive shopping at Kingston”.

Boaters will also be able to moor overnight at Teddington Lock for £5.50.

If the scheme is effective in attracting more boats to cruise the Thames in winter, the EA will consider extending the deal into the spring.

For more information on the offer, call Craft Registration on 0118 953 5650 or Teddington Lock on 0208 940 8723.
