Earls Court organiser: feedback is positive

New boat show boss is upbeat

The organiser of the Earls Court Boat Show has given his impression of the show, after what some visitors called a quiet first weekend.

The inaugural event opened on Friday at the central London venue that used to be home of the official London Boat Show, until it moved to ExCel.

The first day at Earls Court was busy with press and industry but the weekend was noticeably quieter. However Monday afternoon was busier and many exhibitors said the quality of visitor was good, with sales for the boat dealers and the chandlers.

Earls Court Boat Show organiser James Brook says: “This a show not to miss, only on until 9 December, and if you don’t make it this time you won’t see it again – the show in 2008 will be completely different.

“The new show looks absolutely fantastic and it’s got a great buzz. We’ve had a star-studded opening with Penny Lancaster-Stewart and Kenny and Gabby Logan cutting Whyte & Mackay ribbon.

“In the run-up to Christmas we’re particularly pleased to see a large number of families with children and over the weekend the ice rink was packed.

“Feedback from visitors is that they’ve really appreciated the feel of the new show. It’s all about the boating community – power, sail, rowing, celebrities and adventurers.

“They’re telling us everything they want from a boat show is here.”
