Exclusive look at new Absolute 52

Boat expected to begin sea trials in eight weeks

This is a first look at the new 52 Coupe from Absolute.

The first one is currently about half way through its build, with sea trials expected to start in about eight weeks, according to the yard’s UK and Eire distributor Ocean Nautic.

The boat features a saloon up arrangement, with three cabins down below, each with their own en suite.

The master cabin is two metres from floor to ceiling – not bad for a sportscruiser – and designers have even managed to fit in a laundry area.

Twin IPS 600s will power the new boat, meaning it should clear 30 knots with ease.

The Isle of Man-based Ocean Nautic also announced this week it had sold a chunk of the company to a millionaire investor.

The new backer, who doesn’t want to be named, bought an Absolute 39 from the firm and was so pleased with the boat and Ocean Nautic’s service, he decided to get involved in its running.

“In my experience in business it is these new and forward thinking companies that change markets and technology to become major players in the industry later on, so I took the opportunity to get in on the ground floor,” he said.

Ocean Nautic’s MD, Trevor White, added: “Having our new investor and his company as our financial principle has given us a huge boost. We now have the resources to really start expanding the business; we can also compete with the major players on an even keel and have the financial backing to really make a difference.”
