We unveil the true cost of running a boat

Our lead test is on the Sealine C430, a Bill Dixon-designed sportscruiser blessed with masses of space and, thanks to IPS600, a surprising turn of pace.

Alan Harper drew the short straw this month when he flew out to Cannes to drive the stunning Vanquish VQ48. The question is, does it have the talent to match its rather steep price tag?

It’s an exciting month in the New Tech section as we unveil a new style of kill cord that we have designed in conjunction with an entrepreneurial reader – one that is impossible to forget to wear.

The latest in our How To series demonstrates the best way to enter a lock and, in Our Boats, Nick Burnham compares running costs between his old Skibsplast and new Jeanneau Leader 805 while Jack Haines tells the story of the mysterious disappearing tender.

The Absolute 58 Fly is put to the test

The main spotlight in the Used Boat section is on the outlandish Sealine F380 and we also scan the classifieds on the hunt for a bargain river boat.

The cruising section kicks off with a piece by Peter Cumberlidge on Gibraltar. The Rock is known as the gateway to the Med but take some time to explore and you will discover it has some excellent cruising options of its own.

Demonstrating that you don’t need a sky-high budget to enjoy some sunshine, Toby Budd cruises through France to the Med with his young family on a 36-year-old Birchwood for just £17 a day!

Finally, Our German Marlow owners continue their circumnavigation of the British Isles by enjoying the sights and sounds of the Bristol Channel.

We hope you enjoy the issue!
