Festival of Power & Sail this w/e

Loads of boats to see and loads to do for all the family

MBY is supporting the Festival of Power & Sail, taking place at Port Solent Marina this weekend, from 29-31 May.

The Premier Marinas site will play host to the latest new boats from major dealers along the South Coast.

The successful boat show has been known as the Festival of Power in the past but has now expanded to included sailboats.

The event will open from 10am – 5pm each day, with free entry and free parking.

Boats will be on display from Walton Marine, Maritimo, Inspiration Marine Group, Premier Yacht Sales and Ancasta International Boat Sales.

Premier berth-holders can visit and berth for free using their free visitor night vouchers. Call 023 9221 0765 to book your berth for the weekend at Port Solent.

There will be entertainment over the weekend from popular Irish band Mist on the Bog, and visitors can marvel as the sea gods patrol the waves astride dolphin chariots, filling the air with streams of bubbles and the sounds of the seas from the Tritons.

There will also be balloon modelling – younger visitors can get a yacht shaped hat, or get their face painted – become a mermaid for the day, be astonished by the magician, or just sit and listen to the music being played throughout the site.

Down at the Boardwalk, as well as the usual array of shops and restaurants, OnDeck will be promoting their “Atlantic Adventure” with a chance to win a once in a lifetime trip.

The Jubilee Sailing Trust will be on site providing visitors with information on how to get involved and get sailing, Northchild Swan 51 Cruises will have details of their Swan 51 charters, the RNLI will have a souvenir stall and their Sea Safety team will be on hand to tell all about staying safe at sea. Myboatshare.com will be promoting their scheme, and Smart Home Life will be displaying their luxury music and lighting solutions suitable for both ashore and afloat.

The event is sponsored by Lombard Marine Finance, as well MBY and our IPC Media sister titles Classic Boat, Yachting Monthly, Yachting World, Motor Boats Monthly and Practical Boat Owner and our umbrella website YBW.com.
