Fishermen rescued from life-raft in County Down

Four fishermen have been rescued from their life raft after hitting rocks at the entrance to Ardglass Harbour

The fishing vessel, Moy-una, broadcast a mayday just before midnight on Monday. Although the Portaferry lifeboat being dispatched, the men were rescued by nearby fishing boat, Three Coins.

Gary Young of the Belfast Coastguard said, “The boat had hit the rocks at the entrance to Ardglass harbour.

“They [rescue vessel] took the four men out of the life-raft and brought them into Ardglass harbour within half an hour of the original broadcast.”

The Moy-uno later re-floated on high water and was taken back to shore.
