Frigate for boat show

HMS Westminster has been chosen to represent the Royal Navy at next month's London International Boat Show

HMS Westminster has been chosen to represent the Royal Navy at next month’s London Boat Show. The Type 23 frigate will berth alongside ExCeL and is likely to be open to visitors during the show, which runs from 9-18 January.

Type 23s form half of the total frigate/destroyer force in the Royal Navy and, although originally designed for anti-submarine warfare, have evolved into powerful and versatile multi-purpose ships. Stealth characteristics mean that, despite their size, their radar signature is the same as that of a fishing boat.

Westminster returned to the UK in July after a five month deployment to the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean.
