Help shape the future of the Norfolk Broads

DEFRA is on the lookout for someone to join the 21-strong board of the Broads Authority. The only qualification - a love of the area

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) is on the lookout for someone to join the 21-strong board of the Broads Authority (BA).

The only qualifications necessary are a love of the area and a belief that everyone should be able to enjoy the 125-miles of lock-free waterway.

The board helps “guide the work of the BA in caring for the landscape, wildlife and cultural heritage, maintaining the waterways and supporting local communities.”

Board members are required to attend a minimum of six meetings a year on weekdays. The position is unsalaried, although a small allowance and expenses are paid.

Application forms are available on DEFRA’s website or by post from Mel Sherwood, Natural England, 1 East Parade, Sheffield, S1 2ET. Phone 0300 060 0588, or email boardservices@naturalengland.org.uk
