Henri Strzelecki ‘sailed away peacefully' aged 87

The founder of

marine clothing brand Henri-Lloyd, Henri Strzelecki, died on Boxing Day, aged

87.

Mr Strzelecki

started the famous clothing line back in 1963 from an old chapel in Manchester.

Today it is arguably the most popular brand afloat, with thousands of boaters

the world over wearing wet-weather and shore gear bearing the distinctive Henri-Lloyd

logo.

During his life,

Polish-born Strzelecki received many awards for his work, including a MBE for

services to the clothing industry in 1985.

In both 1986 and 1987 Henri-Lloyd Limited

received the Queen’s Award for Export Achievement.
