Historic pier opens to superyachts

Large yachts will be able to dock at end of Yarmouth pier

Superyachts will be able to dock at the end of Yarmouth’s historic pier for the first time in the New Year.

It’s part of a £1.4m improvement of Yarmouth Harbour that saw new walk-ashore pontoons installed to offer greater accessibility for residents and visitors as well as improved electrical and water capacity and increased Wi-Fi coverage.

Yarmouth Harbour pier is one of the oldest and longest wooden piers in the country and has been open for 135 years.

The 190m pier is a Grade 2 listed structure and perhaps best known as the visiting stop for famous paddle steamer Waverley and the SS Balmoral.

Large sail and motor yachts will be able to dock at the end of the pier from January 2012.
