Youngsters from the island will compete in the Honda sponsored RYA Youth RIB initiative at St Peter Port coinciding with the final rounds of the Honda Formula 4-Stroke championships.

The Honda sponsored youth RIB initiative will take place alongside Castle Cornet in St Peter Port. Youngsters from between the ages of 9 and16 will take part in a number of RIB handling tests. They will attempt to prove their boat handling skills in the hope of winning a place at the championship’s national finals held during the forthcoming Southampton International Boat show.

The RYA Youth RIB Championship Channel Islands’ regional coordinator, John Elliott comments:

“The championship gives kids the chance to try powerboating and learn the basic skills in a fun and safe environment. It helps them to learn and practice the right things, the right way – making them safer, competent skippers in of the future. The championship is a fantastic way to see if powerboating is for them. This weekend will be extra special for the youngsters involved, as they will be able to watch the HF4S powerboats in action alongside our championships in Havelet Bay.”
