Human remains found on burnt-out narrowboat

Thames Valley Police work to identify body

An investigation is underway after bones were

discovered aboard a burnt houseboat.

Police were called to the Oxford Canal in Wolvercote,

Oxford, just a short distance from Godstow Lock, on Friday night.

Thames Valley Police said that despite the severity of

the fire, it believes that the remains are human.

Detective chief insp. Andy Bird, said, “We have been

working closely with the fire service to establish the full circumstances

surrounding how the fire happened and now believe that the boat could have been

alight since around 2am Friday morning.”

The police have said that the remains may be the owner

of the boat, 49-year-old Kevin Pryor.
