John Puddifoot heads RYA power boating

With years of experience and the record for the fastest circuit of the Isle of Wight, John Puddifoot takes the post of RYA Power Boating Manager

Internationally experienced and respected competitor John Puddifoot has already started his new job as RYA Power Boating Manager only a week after being selected. John and his team will play a leading role in supporting all areas of British Powerboat Racing including: Aquabiking, Circuit Racing and Offshore Competition.

John has a life-long passion for the sport, as a successful competitor, he currently holds the record for the fastest circuit around the Isle of Wight. As an active official he has served as the Safety Officer BIBOA 1999 onwards and is a past commodore of the prestigious Thames Motor Yacht Club, in London.

Speaking about his new position John said: ‘My overriding reason for applying for the position was that I felt I had something to offer the sport. My role is to work as part of an extended national team and will strive to continue the tradition of enthusiastic leadership that the sport has enjoyed to date. Importantly, I see the need to promote new ideas and in particular encourage new entry-level activities.’

John’s first task, as he sees it, is to listen closely to those already active in the sport, whilst developing new initiatives to broaden the sports appeal to new participants. John is keen to hear the views of anyone who, like himself, would like to see the sport of power boating moving forward in the UK. He can be contacted by phone on 023 8062 7441 or email john.puddifoot@rya.org.uk.
