Honda RYA champ gets the spoils

Young RIB talent Jordan Muckles was presented with his prize for winning the Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship.

Jordan, aged 11, from Fulwell, near Sunderland, won a new Honda Ribcraft RIB for his club the Wear Boating Association.
He was presented with the RIB and trailer at a ceremony at Sunderland Marina on Saturday 17 November.

Already the north east junior RIB champion, Jordan beat thousands of others to win his age category at the finals of the contest at the Southampton Boat Show in September.

The Monkwearmouth School pupil will now travel to Italy in 2008 to represent Great Britain in the Formula for Youth World Championships.

“Over 3,500 young powerboaters took part in the competition this year,” said Keith Ellison, Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship event manager. “The standard is getting higher every year.”

Jordan’s winning time was more than 30 seconds quicker than MBY writers Gregg Copp and Rob Peake over the same course.
