Linssen and UK agent Berthon part company

The maker of Dutch steel boats makes decision to bring sales in-house

Linssen Yachts has called time on its relationship with UK firm Berthon, which has been the Dutch yard’s agent in this country for the last five years.

The reason for the split is to bring sales activities in-house, which is the case in Linssen’s other core European territories.

“For example, our advertising and trade fair stands in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France have been fully harmonised and are managed centrally from our headquarters,” Yvonne Linssen, the company’s sales and marketing manager, said.

“It is furthermore our intention to establish Linssen UK, with its own showroom and demonstration facilities.”

Linssen has chosen September’s PSP Southampton Boat Show as the launching pad for its new enterprise, adding that after-sales service for existing Linssen customers will not be affected by the change.

“We have enjoyed working with likeminded family owned Linssen; both companies have an incredibly strong balance sheet and this allows each of us to concentrate on our core businesses,” said Sue Grant, MD of sales at Berthon.
