Boaters warned about giant crocodile in Mackay Marina, Australia

Queensland boaters in Australia have been warned about a giant saltwater crocodile, which is frequenting Mackay Marina. Although crocs are occasionally seen in the area at this time of year, this particular one is hanging around longer than usual and is reported to be huge.

A Marine Rescue volunteer said: “There are plenty of fish in the marina so he wouldn’t be going hungry, but I wouldn’t go swimming in there.” Signs warning about the crocodile have been put up around the marina by the Department of Environment and Resource Management.

Ben Anderson, marina manager added: “The marina is not ideal for them, they prefer to be up a nice quiet creek out of the way. They don’t hang around for long, not with all the boats coming and going.”
