Meridian 391

This US-built boat has joined the space race

What they say
“Seamlessly blends performance and styling with cruisability. The result is true versatility, whether her owner plans to cast off with minimal crew, or with plenty of family members and friends aboard.”

What we say
Something of a rarity: a US-designed boat with European styling. Brunswick-owned Meridian Yachts were established in the US five years ago and now offer a range from 35ft to 60ft. The 391 is the biggest of two new flybridges (the second is a 341), which form the basis of a big push in Europe by Meridian this year.

Immediately obvious features include the massive saloon windows, which provide 360˚ views from inside, and a second raised seating area with a convertible table to create another double berth. The 391 on show at the Southampton Boat Show had this area replaced with a second helm, a sensible move which apparently does not detract much from the good-sized guest cabin beneath.

There is only one heads but a separate shower compartment opposite helps compensate. The interior décor is plush but this does not come at the expense of practicality.

Typical is the cabin headroom at well over 6ft, and the flybridge with a large overhang, which creates a generous social area. Buyers can specify 420hp engines.
