Mystery new powerboat spotted at Ben Ainslie Racing

MBY can reveal exclusive spy shots of a secret new sportsboat seen leaving the Ben Ainslie Racing site in Portsmouth

These exclusive images, sent to MBY from an anonymous source, show an as yet unidentified performance powerboat boat leaving Ben Ainslie Racing in Portsmouth.

The boat, decorated in brightly coloured camouflage markings to disguise its finished look, appears to be powered by twin duo-prop outdrives with stainless steel propellers for sustained high speed cruising.

Much of the cockpit appears to be masked off, however it looks to be a traditional high performance layout with a sunpad over the engines aft, and a cockpit with a bench seat at the rear. This suggests it is intended for leisure use rather than as a pure racing machine.

However, a pair of high-backed helm seats further forward also hint at it being a serious driver’s machine.

The distinctive livery of the Portsmouth Ben Ainslie Racing site is clear to see

In one image the distinctive white and grey Union Jack doors and curved roofline of Ben Ainsley Racing’s Portsmouth facility can be seen, leading to speculation that expertise gained from its America’s Cup sailing boats may be being adapted for use in a new breed of performance powerboat.

We don’t yet know what size it or who it is being built for but we promise to bring you more as soon as the story develops.
