Peter Dredge, who has filled the post of Powerboat Manager at the Royal Yachting Association for more than a decade, is leaving the association to take up another role in the sport.

During his time at the RYA he has seen the association adopt a much wider approach to motorboating as a whole. Not only has he managed the relative committees of competitive motorboating such as Circuit and Offshore powerboat racing, he has also seen the formation of the Motor Boating Committee (MBC) which is responsible for widening the appeal of the RYA to an ever-growing band of cruiser owners. Among his many responsibilities were the on-water activities for the four Motor Boat & Yachting Festival of Power events held in Cowes between 1994 and 2000. More recently he has been involved organising several RYA motorboating cruises from south coast ports to the Channel Islands and beyond. He leaves having given the RYA a much greater understanding of motor boating in all its forms together with the needs of those who seek their enjoyment afloat under power rather than sail. The post of RYA Powerboat Manager is to be advertised in the yachting press.
