Plans unveiled for nine new wind farms

The Crown Estate has signed agreements for nine new offshore windfarms to be developed in waters around the UK

Plans have been unveiled for nine new offshore wind farms in waters around the UK. Developers have signed exclusive zone development agreements with The Crown Estate to take the proposals through the planning and consenting phase.

The nine zones where new wind farms will be developed are the Moray Firth, Firth of Forth, Dogger Bank, Hornsea, Norfolk Bank, Hastings, west of the Isle of Wight, Bristol Channel, and the Irish Sea.

Roger Bright, chief executive of The Crown Estate, said he was delighted to have announced the development partners for all nine Round 3 zones. The new wind farms will, he said, provide a quarter of the UK’s electricity needs.
