Powerboat P1 to open season in Adriatic

Opening round to coincide with Croatian Boat Show

Powerboat P1 Management has announced an agreement has been reached with the Croatian city of Split to host the opening round of its 2010 World Championship.

The race will coincide with the Croatia Boat Show which has been staged in the historic city for the past 11 years.

Powerboat P1 Commercial Director, Robert Wicks, said:

“We are delighted to have concluded arrangements with the promoters, the City and the Boat Show organisers for what promises to be an excellent showcase for P1 in the Adriatic.”

“The event will generate significant inward investment for the local economy; will help to raise the profile of the city and the country as a leading watersport destination through extensive global media coverage. It will also help to extend the tourist season in the region,” added Wicks.

Local promoter, Tomislav Mi?etiæ of A.M. Info Media said:

“We recognise the value and potential of Powerboat P1 and what it can add to a city at international level. Given our experience in the local marine industry and our enthusiasm for the sport of powerboat racing we felt this was the perfect opportunity to showcase the city of Split to the world. We have the ideal combination of partners with the full support of Powerboat P1, the city and the Boat Show.”
