Powerboats head for Caribbean

Inaugural powerboat regatta for Antigua

Following two years of negotiations and planning, Iconic World Powerboat and the Government of Antigua and Barbuda have agreed to jointly host their first major international powerboat regatta.

March 2018 has been set for 150 race boats to converge on the Caribbean island of Antigua for the island’s first powerboat regatta.

The Iconic World Powerboat Concept is centred around two major ports of operations, Jolly Beach and English Harbour. The regatta encompasses every possible type of boat, from jetskis and single seater Formula 2 boats to massive 200mph offshore boats.

The organisers have already secured the support of 70 teams. (40 teams from offshore circuit, 20 inshore teams, 10 Marathon boats and 2 Turbine boats).

“This is an opportunity for every race team in the world to get together in one place, at one time and celebrate our love of the sport” said Chief Operating Officer Eugene Bari. “We are delighted to be able to announce this event to the world” added CEO Richard Teideman.
