Powercats back in the game

Multimarine Composites buy Powercats

Multimarine Composites have put in a successful bid to buy the assets and brand of Powercats.

Powercats suffered cash flow problems last year that put them in to receivership despite having a full order book and highly praised new model in the 695.

Mulitmarine have stepped in however, having seen definite potential in the range of small power catamarans.

Multimarine are relatively new to the market themselves but burst on to the scene in style by producing award-winning wave piercer,MarySlim.

Multimarine say: “Now we have the opportunity to carry on producing and developing these innovative craft and think it is simply a must, and we hope to work alongside them in the future development of Powercats.

“As a Cornish brand ourselves we also we felt it was imperative to keep Powercats based in Cornwall. The marine industry, especially here in the south west, has taken a battering through these troubled times but we are well-placed to come out the other side.”

Senior project manager at Multimarine Simon baker says: “We look forward to developing the production of Powercats, which will broaden the range of boats Multimarine can offer, alongside its sister company Dazcat’s brand of performance multihulls.”
