Princess to make open version of the new V48

The Princess V48 Open will go head-to-head with the new Fairline Targa 48 Open

The battle of the 48 footers is hotting up as Princess announces plans to build an open version of the V48 dubbed the V48 Open.

The new Princess faces stiff competition, though, in the guise of Fairline’s all new Targa 48 Open and the Sunseeker San Remo.

The V48 Open is based on the same hull as the normal V48 but in place of cockpit doors and a plush upper saloon it has a more classic sportscruiser cockpit with a sunpad/tender garage and its saloon below decks.

It gets a sliding canvas roof in place of a hard sliding one but comes with the same resin-infused hull and IPS600 to provide the grunt up to a top speed of 34 knots.

The interior is the same as the two-cabin version of the standard V48 but it’s likely to be a touch darker down below due to the loss of the void forward of the navigator position, which opened up the galley to the windscreen above.

The two excellent cabins are unchanged with an amidships ensuite master and a double VIP with an ensuite bathroom and ever useful scissor-action berths.

The V48 will make her international debut at the Cannes Boat Show.
