Final round of youngsters RIB series takes place off HMS Dauntless

The winners of the 2010 Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship were crowned in front of a packed crowd at the PSP Southampton International Boat Show.

Racing throughout the day the 27 finalists from across the country demonstrated their skill at the throttle of their RIB’s around a difficult course in the shadow of HMS Dauntless.

However, it was twelve year old Henry Hughes and sixteen year old Luke McGill who drove to championship glory.

Both boys skilfully manoeuvred around the tricky and testing course which included a slalom run, a reversing test around a buoy and a man over board manoeuvre.

Henry, from West Kirby Sailing Club wins a Honwave T40 RIB with BF20 engine and Luke from the Sunderland Yacht Club wins a Ribcraft 4.8m RIB with BF60 engine for their respective clubs.
