Chris Parsonage has confirmed that American throttleman, Randy Scism, a former Class 1 World Powerboat Champion and the 2004 APBA World Powerboat Champion has joined Chris Parsonage Racing for the 2005 season.
“I am absolutely delighted that Randy has agreed to come to Europe to join us this season,” said team owner and driver, Chris Parsonage. “He is a great throttleman and to have a world champion with me in Negotiator and the experience that comes with him will be invaluable to the whole team.”
Scism, 48, from Wentzville, Missouri made his powerboat racing debut in 1985 before moving to the Middle East to join Dubai’s Victory Team as General Manager in 1989. His career with Victory spanned 10 years. He partnered the late Hamed Buhaleeba to lift the Pole Position title in 1994 as well as a clutch of UAE and Middle East titles. Five years later with Ali Nasser he won the UIM Class 1 World and European Championships and the Pole Position Championship for the second time. During his period with Victory he won 10 Grands Prix, took eight pole position wins and 21 podiums finishes.
In 1999, Randy stepped down from international competition to set up Marine Technology Inc and concentrated on designing and building race boats and pleasure craft that have since gone on to win design awards for excellence, National titles in America and the APBA World Championship. He returned to Class 1 racing briefly in 2003/4 for five races with Ugland Offshore Racing and in November last year in one of his own craft won the APBA World Powerboat Championship.
