Round Britain to go ahead

Crews volunteer to increase entry fees

In order to cover a temporary shortfall of funds needed to organise next years Round Britain powerboat race, a special meeting on Saturday of teams already entered voted unanimously to increase the race entry fees from £5 to £10 per engine horsepower. This will mean some crews paying over £10k to take part in what will be the first Round Britain powerboat event since 1984

The eight stage race will start from Portsmouth on June 21 and is expected to attract over 50 high speed offshore craft including a large proportion on international entries.
