IOTA forced to cancel due to standard of organisation
The International Offshore Team Association (IOTA), organiser of the Class 1 World Powerboat Championship, has announced that due to circumstances beyond its control it has been forced to cancel the Spanish Grand Prix, the second round of this year’s world championship
“Despite all our efforts and numerous attempts to maintain the running of the Class 1 Spanish Grand Prix due to be held in Alicante on 7 June, we have regrettably been forced to cancel the race. We have had to accept the fact that not all the necessary conditions which would have enabled the event to go ahead on the scheduled date were in place,” said IOTA General Secretary, Marco Sala. He added, “We are, however, currently looking at other venues in order to maintain the regularity of events in the running the 2009 Class 1 World Powerboat series.
